Attention bona-fide fashionistas!

New kid – Violet Closet has arrived on the fashion block and they are all set to dazzle your wardrobe with their inaugural collection – Swirl of Romance!

Well, I know my face is on the cover but sadly, Violet Closet (VC) is not my latest business venture. In fact, the esteemed online store belongs to my best friends Jo and SJ!

Jo and SJ are well-known among our circle of friends for their trendy and exquisite fashion tastes. These fashion lovers are always spotted carrying the latest IT bag or clad in the most stylish clothes. With this, it is no surprise that our conversation topics never sway away from the finest on the runways and the most glamorous couture collections.

Their passion for fashion has definitely made them our fashion royalties. Hence, we were thrilled when they decided to bring their passion to the next level by opening their first online fashion store to showcase clothes that reflect their good taste and affection for fashion. I guess this is all well explained in their slogan – Where fashion meets passion.

And your humble blogger was invited to model for their first collection. Whoopie!

I have an extremely pear-shaped body such that my heavy bottom prevents me from wearing Size S from most blogshops and my less endowed figure does not fit most Size M clothes too.

Imagine the exasperation when shopping for clothes for my body shape! 🙁

So I was ecstatic when VC brought in clothes that were mostly catered to body shapes like mine.

Here are some of my faves.

Melrose Midi (SGD30)

If you have a pear-shaped figure, it probably also means you have thunder thighs. The fashion remedy for such figures is to hide the thighs with a long skirt and expose your shoulders to give the illusion of longer legs and a shapely bod.

VC’s midi dresses delivers just that, especially this peach number where gorgeous collar bones are exposed and saddlebags ‘never see the light of day’ under its beautiful pleats and non-sheer chiffon fabric.

Sophie Midi (SGD30)

Animals prints are really popular these days but not many can offer such sophistication and modern flair as this roaring leopard dress.

The inner lining strategically stops at the knee level beneath the sheer wildcat prints to give off a peekaboo effect at the calves region. I love its effortless and chic style.

Who says you can’t be conservative and stylish at the same time?

The modest cut and cute buttons exude absolute professionalism and inner charm.

But what’s more attractive is how the vintage inspired dress deviates from the norm with its minty fabric and bold mustard Peter Pan collar to bring out the sassiness and individuality of the wearer.

For maximum charm factor, cinch waist with a twisted rope belt to skim curves and to accentuate your hourglass figure.

Lauren Lace (SGD25)

Lace it up with VC’s Lauren Lace top!

Lace is the quintessence of a classic yet in-vogue trend. We know that lace outfits are definitely the way to go now as we spot A-List celebs in this classic Hollywood favorite fabric.

VC not only celebrates the lace trend but ups the fashion game with this season’s favorites – floral prints.

Belle Polka Dot Blouse (SGD25)

Polka dots are perennial classics that have survived the 70s, 80s, 90s… until now. World renowned designers and stylists are still advocating this trend and I doubt it’s going away any time soon.
