Fashion Review: LOEF’s Striped Midi with Chiffon (Vermillion) and Inglese Trench Coat (Black)

Inglese Trench Coat (Black)

Afterthoughts…

I think I might have jumped the gun a little bit on winter fashion when I wore this trench coat to office today. Because everyone around me were still clad in loose fitting and summery cute dresses. Well, it started raining cats and dogs (Singapore’s equivalent to winter) in the afternoon, so that made me feel less out of place after that.

Nonetheless, I think this is an extremely elegant and classy piece.

If you’d noticed, I’m really into eye-poping colors lately and have been experimenting extensively with color-blocking fashion. So getting this full black trench coat is like going back a notch for me, in a good way as it displays a kind of ‘subtle glamour’.

I’ve paired this with a dress in the photos but you can also wear it with a pair of worn-out shorts and casual tank top like Fashiontoast’s Rumi Neely.

The material is thin, soft and sheer. It wrinkles rather easily too. But that’s not a huge deal to me because it looks good wrinkled too.

The material might be a tad bit too soft because the sleeves wouldn’t stay folded and they exposed unsightly seams. Pretty untidy looking.

The workmanship is shoddy too as several loose threads were sighted.

All in all, I would give this 3.5 Honeyz crowns. It could have been better with tidier and manageable sleeves and quality workmanship.

Afterthoughts…

How do I describe this dress? One price for two looks.

Wear it with the chiffon top-overlay for a fresh, conservative girl-next-door look. (Every guy’s favorite!) OR remove the top-overlay to shake things up a little bit for an edgier style.

There’s an elastic waist band that shapes a blouson bodice. This is great as the contrast striped skirt is pretty tight and may reveal bulgy tummy if you view it from the side. The stripes are also perfect as they distract people from looking at the contour of the tummy. (An illusion of a flat tummy is always key!)

The top has a rather low neckline and the material is slightly sheer so a tube top is highly recommended.

The chiffon top-overlay feels slightly rough but not uncomfortable to wear.

The color of the dress is true to the pictures on LOEF’s website. Yes, the red is rather bright.

Overall, I would give this 4 Honeyz crowns. It is perfect for the weekend shopping, beach getaway and clubbing nights. (It’s probably too hot for first dates.)

Disclaimer: I know I’m going to sound like a broken record but I would like to emphasize again that Honeyz fashion reviews are NOT advertorial posts. I do not endorse any of those brands featured. Rather, I’m trying to show you how normal girls (girls with non-supermodel statures) look like in clothing from these famous boutiques. This is to aid you in making informed purchase decisions when it comes to updating your fashion wardrobe. 🙂
