Fashion For Every Kind of Summer Celebration

Guest Post by Holly Tomlinson

Is there anything better than a summertime party? From backyard BBQs to the 4th of July, there’s really nothing like summertime fun. As the weather warms and the daylight stretches long into the evening, the abundance of celebrations goes up—way up. And, of course, no party is complete without the perfect outfit. Read on for the best picks of summertime fashion staples.

Backyard BBQ

I adore getting together with friends for a casual backyard BBQ in summertime. They’re the perfect, simple summertime gathering. Throw some chicken and veggies on the grill, mix up some sangria, and invite a handful of friends! The backyard is a super casual environment, which keeps it super easy.

When it comes to fashion, just because it’s casual doesn’t mean I don’t keep it cute! I absolutely love a strappy summertime dress. Tobi has tons to choose from. Light, breezy, and easy! Dress it down with a flat sandal and a loose ponytail.

Summer Wedding

Is there anything like a summer wedding? Celebrating love on a warm summer evening is one of my favorites. My latest obsession for summer weddings is a jumpsuit. I don’t think there’s anything easier. You don’t need to worry about controlling your dress against a wayward summertime breeze, just throw it on and go! Pair one with strappy heels and a high ponytail and you’ll be looking sleek!

Pool Party

You know I keep it fly, even when I’m poolside. Just because you’ve stripped down to your suit doesn’t mean it can’t be cute! This summer, super skimpy bikinis are out and cut-out one pieces are in. They’re the perfect combo of sexy and tasteful. Throw on a big sunhat and a cute pair of shades and you’ve got a look!

Music Festival

Festivals are all the rage right now, and I’m definitely not sitting this one out! What you wear to a festival is probably one of the most important choices you’ll make (after which festival you’ll attend). My number one priority when I go to music festivals is comfort, but just because it’s comfy doesn’t mean it can’t be cute!

Festival fashion runs the gamut, but for me there’s one constant: always wear a sneaker! While sandals and boots are super cute, they just aren’t festival-friendly, and the last thing you want is to be held back by your sore feet! Urban Outfitters has a killer selection of cute, comfy kicks.

4th of July

For a true summertime classic, nothing beats that famous combo: red, white, and blue. This summer, stay away from short shorts and cheesy logo tanks. Instead, thrift a pair of classic Levis (is there anything more American?) and pair them with a sweet white baby doll tee. For the finishing touch, rock a bright red Newsboy cap. Super cute and keeps the sun out! Red, white, and blue… but still unique!

Pride

Pride is one of my favorite days of the year. A day to get out in the streets and celebrate love and equality! One of my favorite things about Pride is that there’s really only one rule… have fun! My outfit is no exception. I go all out with Pride clothing—the more colorful, the better. Don’t forget TONS of glitter. I told you… I go all out!

Labor Day

The bittersweet end of summer. I always make sure to go out with a bang. In classic fashion, I love white for Labor Day. Though I definitely don’t prescribe to the “No white shoes after Labor Day” rule, it’s fun to bid adieu to summer in the ultimate summer outfit.

Tonal looks are super in right now, so this summer I’m opting for an all-white look. Rock a white eyelet top with a pair of high-waisted white denim and a white sneaker. It’s the perfect combination of sporty and sweet!

Isn’t summer the best? No matter what you rock to your summer celebrations, the most important thing is to have fun!

Good luck!
